Reiki is a gentle healing method with a quiet power, developed in Japan early in the 20th Century. It is used holistically to restore balance in mind, body and spirit.
The word Reiki, pronounced Ray-key, derives from two Japanese writing characters: 'Rei' meaning Universal, and 'Ki' meaning life force energy.
Reiki healing energy is passed from the Reiki practitioner to the recipient by the laying of hands, on or off the body. This is done fully clothed.
A Reiki practitioner must study and receive an attunement by a Reiki Master Teacher, whose training lineage can be traced back to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui Sensai.
